Blues dance is a family of Black American social dances (some solo, some partnered) that coevolved with different styles of Blues music throughout history, starting in the late 1800s and extending through today. Blues dance celebrates freedom of expression within community, improvisation, rhythm, and more!
**Evening schedule**

**Lesson info**
7pm: Music & Idiom series: Ballroomin' week
What types of music connect to different blues-idiom dances? What do each of these dances help us access in the music & the moment? In this 4-week series, we’ll work on ballroomin’, struttin’, belly rubbin’, and Texas shuffle—digging into what defines each dance or way of dancing, what in the music connects to these dances, and why we might choose to dance a particular way. During community studio, we'll have practice time for the class topics, with teachers available for questions.
We recommend that you take all 4 weeks, but each class will still work on its own. No partner necessary, as usual. Some experience/comfort with close embrace is recommended for weeks 1, 2, & 3.
**Pricing**
